Cyprus is the last country in Europe where retirees still get a good deal – taxation on pension income after allowances is fixed at 5%. Naturally those wishing to be right in the heart of a community where they will meet like-minded people may choose property in Paphos in Cyprus – particularly Peyia where there is a strong English community intermingling with the local Cypriots. Peyia is a large community with a good selection of apartments, townhouses and villas. The centre of the village is the focal point of life in Peyia, however the beaches and many restaurants in Coral Bay, which is a 5 minute drive away – are a popular meeting place.

Those people wanting a more scenic and quieter place to live are well advised to visit the Polis area of Cyprus which is North West of Paphos but still only 40 minutes from the airport. The centre of this area is the small town of Polis with its quaint paved streets, but a wide range of shops and restaurants – a short walk will take you down to the sandy beach with its stunning views of the Chrysochous Bay and the mountains beyond. There is a regular bus service to Paphos – cost one euro!! A five minute drive will take you to the popular marina at Latchi where you can relax in one of the many quayside fish restaurants, and watch the local fishermen returning with your evening meal.

The area of Polis is surrounded by mountains so there is a wide variety of scenery and places to visit – all within a short drive. Go for a walk in the rugged terrain of the Akamas Nature Reserve, and then relax with a drink in the traditional stone village of Neo Chorio. Try pony trekking in the Paphos pine forests above Polis, and then have a relaxing lunch in the family run Paradisos Hotel which has the most stunning views of any hotel in Cyprus. Relax on one of the many sandy beaches or take a 20 minute car trip along the coast to the small fishing village of Pomos, where the mountains meet the beach and the scenery is totally different – the rugged cliffs and stunning beauty of this area will take your breath away! For the more active there are a wide range of water sports in the area and it is easy to hire a small boat in Latchi Marina and take a trip out for a few hours, and maybe relax in the Blue lagoon and try some scuba diving. Construction has started on two new golf courses in Argaka which will be amongst the most scenic in Europe.

Retiring to Cyprus will never be boring, and you will be able to enjoy the constant sunshine and friendship that this island has to offer, at a greatly reduced cost compared to many other countries.

My client not only was able to join his brand with that of the university’s in a joint marketing venture but had also enlisted an army of fans waving his logo to show the other thousand of fans his brand as well. Moreover many of the fans kept the we are # 1 mitts and brought them to other games only to show more people my clients brand and so the beat goes on and on. Now that is an example of a super promotional product.

But there are many examples of these super promotional products with the multiplier effect. Being aware of this marketing concept is the key. For example, why give out pens at a trade show when you can give out tote bags with your company’s logo and have all the recipients walk around the trade show promoting your brand and driving traffic to your booth location. As I wrote in one of my previous articles about promotional product desk accessory items, many of them are super promotional products as they sit on your clients desk often viewed by important people visiting that individual in their office. Perhaps an important supplier to that company will see the promotional product gift with your logo on it on your clients desk.

It might cause them to notice your company’s logo and introduce or elevate your brand in the mind of the viewer. But there are many other examples of super promotional products to choose from that will work for you and your company’s promotion. Using the internet as a way to help you build your business, whether it’s an online or offline business, is an extremely cost effective technique. The low cost of this type of advertisement had a downside, companies started sending out millions of messages to unsuspecting email recipients who then started complaining about spam – unsolicited bulk commercial emails.

In order to be in compliance with the law, and not be accused of spamming, there are a few things you need to do:

1. Your email message must have an accurate ‘from’ heading where you put in your name or the name of your company.

2. The subject line on your email must be accurate and relate to the actual content of your email.

3. As the sender you must provide an actual physical address for you or your company.

4. Make sure to clearly label your email if it contains adult content.

5. You cannot have a false header on your email.

6. You must provide a clear, and free, link for the recipient to ‘un-scubscribe’ and if they click on that link they should immediately be removed from your email list and you should never send them another email.

7. Having an ‘opt-in’ list is probably your very best defense against being accused of spam. This method will encourage your website visitor to sign up to receive your emails. They are giving you permission to send them emails. In order to get them to sign up to your list you can offer them an incentive such as a free report or a multi part mini-course that they will receive over a period of a week or so. Whatever you offer them to get them to sign up, make sure it has real value to your subscriber. Take a little time and develop a report that has some real value and substance to it.

These are the basics of the law. I’m not an expert or a lawyer so make sure you take a little time and learn all the ins and outs of the CAN SPAM law so that you can make sure your company is in compliance. Don’t let the new laws scare you off from using mass email marketing since it can be a very effective marketing tool for your business.

If you take the time to find out what all the regulations are and then you follow them, you will be in compliance and you will be able to add a lot of customers to your business which will eventually lead to a lot more sales, and that’s what we all want.

Apple, Verizon, and other tech giants are lobbying against your right to repair your mobile devices. The Fair Repair Act is a bill recently introduced to the New York Senate. The bill is currently in committee, this is the time to write to representatives. There are similar bills currently introduced in 11 other states as well. So why should you, the consumer, care?

The Fair Repair Act would require manufacturers of digital parts sold or used in New York to make available manufacturer diagnostic and repair information and tools for purchase for independent repair facilities. If passed, it would apply to equipment and parts manufactured in 2012 or later. It would also introduce a public outreach program to make the public aware of the legislation. Any company found to violate the new legislation would face a fine- any and every time the terms are found to be violated.

Obviously the tech giants are fighting the bill, as repairs for items such as smartphones, laptops, and watches would no longer necessitate a lengthy visit to the manufacturer and endless discussions about warranty eligibility Stra phone tech repairs . I mean, everyone loves a good old 4-hour visit to the Apple Store to talk with the “geniuses” there about why your year-old iPhone is no longer eligible for warranty coverage.

The legislation is not exclusive to smartphones and their ilk, but would cover a multitude of devices such as TV’s, computers, watches, tablets, and more. The only exceptions to the legislation are vehicles and certain medical devices.

Imagine a world where you bring your shattered phone to any independent repair shop, and walk out an hour later with a manufacturer-quality repair. No annoying hoops to jump, no digging in your wallet for receipts.

The Fair Repair Act would also serve to keep the field of technology repair competitive in the best way. If all independent repair establishments had access to original diagnostic tools, then said businesses’ success would rely solely on the quality of their repairs and on their experience in the field.

Although the Fair Repair Act is limited to New York currently, it will have far-reaching consequences. The public needs to set the right precedent and let tech giants know that we demand the ability to reasonably repair our hard-earned devices. If the bill passes in New York, we can only expect similar bills in other states to follow. Hopefully by raising awareness, we can secure reasonably priced and high quality repairs for all consumers.
